Chelsea M. Cooper
Ph.D.
Dr. Chelsea M. Cooper, Ph.D. (she/her) is a clinical psychologist who has worked in the field of child and adolescent mental health for many years as a clinician, researcher, and instructor. She completed her master’s degree at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA and earned her doctorate from Case Western Reserve University. She then completed her predoctoral clinical internship at MetroHealth Medical Center and postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Emotional Wellness.
Throughout her career, Dr. Cooper has remained committed to serving children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of concerns. She has successfully treated clients with eating and sleeping difficulties, anxiety and depression, and challenging behaviors. She works with clients and families to implement evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Maudsley Family-Based Therapy (FBT), and parent behavior management training. In addition to her belief that therapy should be evidence-based, Dr. Cooper believes therapy should be tailored to each individual and family. Therefore, she ensures that each course of treatment considers an individual’s racial, ethnic, familial, religious, academic, social, and cultural contexts.
On a personal note, Dr. Cooper enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two young children. She likes to travel, watch any and all period dramas, spend time outdoors, and is a former barista and athlete.
